Film Love.

Just a quick peek at what I've been up to lately.

Thanks again, Dad. I'm loving this!

Top Ten.

Top ten reasons I love shooting film:
1. I am more careful in planning shots, thus less pictures are tossed.
2. The camera itself is lighter. Easy to take anywhere!
3. No instant gratification, however after being diligent, the gratification is sweet.
4. No Photoshop nonsense.
5. I never have to worry about white balance. EVER!
6. I don't have to worry about SD cards filling up. I always know how many exposures I have left.
7. No computers. No headache.
8. No time wasted on the danged auto-focus. I focus and shoot. Done.
9. I don't have to wait for the camera to process a long exposure. Once it's done. It's done.
10. It just feels good. The result is worth it.

PS Dad, you're the best. I'm loving this camera! Maybe one day you can have it back...maybe.

Unplanned Therapy.

Normally I'd have some ideas in mind when I take pictures. A common theme, a photoshoot, or even working on a specific technique. The following pictures are what happens when I just need a little photo-therapy.

I can usually find these hidden among others things and I easily recognize them as times when I just needed to shoot for the sake of shooting. Definitely not the best of the best, but these are some of the little things that remind me why I love taking my camera out.

I Think I Figured This Out.

Unfortunately, we (and when I say 'we' I really mean 'I') may have to bag the tutorials. The reason being, I should have posted them BEFORE school began and reason number 2 (what I am getting really excited about) I've found a new interest. Don't worry, I still love photography, but I've realized that in all the years of taking pictures of this
 and this
 and this

I finally realized why I loathe weddings and other such events that I couldn't figure out why I found boring to shoot. It's because I didn't grow up shooting that. That's not my style. I developed a lot of my photography shooting my immediate surroundings which included my active family. I shot things like this.

Never did I ever think I'd enjoy this and never in a million years did I ever think I'd want this guy's job. However, it is surprisingly easy to see myself doing that; more so than a wedding (which if I might add is a market that has one too many photographers and MORE than enough fauxtogs). I've realized that I am more satisfied with pictures that are total chance rather than something posed.
My style is constantly changing, but for now we'll have to see what an independent study of sports photography does for me.

Just Visiting.

I haven't been here in a while. Here are a few scenes from late adventures.

Tutorials are on their way. I've been busy and haven't had too much time to work on them, but I'm still excited to get them posted!
